Telling Republicans He Won…

President Trump said he won Pennsylvania – but three Republican federal Circuit Court Judges ruled his Pennsylvania lawsuit had “no merit.” Trump appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court – it told him no.

Republican judges in Georgia and Wisconsin said no to pro-Trump lawsuits.

Trump turned to the Republican Governors in Arizona and Georgia to overturn elections. They told him No.

Trump appealed to Republican state legislators in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Arizona to put his electors – not Biden’s – in the Electoral College.  They told him No.

Trump claimed Dominion computers switched millions of Trump votes to Biden.  Georgia – which has a Republican Governor, Lt. Governor and Secretary of State – held two hand recounts. And found no switched votes.

A friend, agreeing with Trump, sent me dozens of articles filled with Trump quotes, Giuliani quotes, Sidney Powell quotes – he said proved fraud. One article showed a picture of a man rolling a case into a voting center and asked: Stolen ballots?  The man was a TV cameraman. The case was full of his equipment.

Republicans won races down-ballot, gaining seats in Congress, but Trump lost. Trump said, That proves fraud. But why would Democrats steal votes for Joe Biden and not, say, Cal Cunningham?

Trump tweeted, “No candidate has ever won both Florida and Ohio and lost. I won them both, by a lot!” His lawyers told the Supreme Court the same thing. But in 1960 Richard Nixon won both Florida and Ohio – and lost to John Kennedy.

That tweet cuts to the heart of why Trump lost.

Joe Biden was a weak candidate but Trump’s bragging, boasting, and half-truths – like that tweet – made him a weaker candidate. And he lost.

But Trump still has an iron grip on the Republican Party. He’s in control. The future is in his hands. He might lose control if Republicans could see his foibles but Trump’s neutered that threat: He’s convinced Republicans he didn’t lose – he won.

But is having Trump in control of the future best for conservatives? Or is there a better way to stop Biden?
