The GOP 13th Congressional District race looks like a mini-version of the Republican presidential race.
George Holding is playing the part of Mitt Romney: establishment conservative focusing on cutting spending and deficits (and ignoring the reality that Republican Presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush gave us the biggest deficits ever).
Paul Coble is auditioning for the role of Rick Santorum: wacko right-winger who finds conspiracies in sustainability plans and chases every hot-button social issue that comes up. Apparently, Wake County will have to wait until the primary is over before Coble & Co. on the Wake board of commissioners can focus on things like schools and growth instead of the UN and gay marriage.
