Drug Deal

Now, I may not have all the numbers exactly right on this one. It’s received some coverage, but not enough. So bear with me.

Apparently, the Obama administration cut a secret deal with Big Pharma under which the drug companies agreed to give up no more than $80 billion in prescription-drug savings for health-care reform.

A few days later, the Big Pharma trade association announced that, not only will it not fight Obama on reform, it will run $150 million in ads to support his plan.

So the drug companies spend $150 million on ads. And they save untold billions in revenue.

Don’t tell me Obama doesn’t know how to deal.
