Words or Deeds?

He said he’d hoped Trump’s campaign would stop name calling – but it didn’t. He said that after Trump won he’d hoped he’d clean up his act – but he didn’t. And a few minutes after Mitt Romney lit into Trump the Republican world ignited with Trump tweeting and Trump’s Campaign Manager telling the newspapers, “Jealousy is a drink best served warm and Romney just proved it.” Another pundit dubbed Romney ‘everybody’s favorite chameleon’ and reminded Republicans Romney had been against Trump then for Trump then lukewarm on Trump and now, coming full circle, he was against Trump again.

But, still, the conflagration showed Romney’s message struck a nerve.

There’s a question pollsters ask Republicans in polls: Do you agree with Donald Trump’s policies and his personality – or do you agree with his policies but not his personality? Republicans overwhelmingly agree with Trump’s policies but around half don’t like his personality.

In courtrooms we judge men by on their actions but the Good Book also says, In the beginning was the Word. So which matters most? Trump’s deeds or Trump’s words?

Deeds have made Trump a hero with Republicans. But could his words be leading him to a reckoning?
