Will the Real Politician Please Stand Up?

Gary, I’m going to agree. John McCain’s a flip-flopper. The old admiral is zigging and zagging.

But a bit of the shine’s rubbing off Obama’s apple too. After a year of telling everyone who’d listen how he’s going to get us out of the war, His Nimbleness just said – in Baghdad, no less – that he’s going to leave up to 50,000 troops in Iraq. Now, I know you’ll say that’s not a flip-flop. That he’s said all along he wants a careful, deliberate withdrawal. But did it ever strike you deliberate meant 50,000 men? Is it my imagination or – after sewing up the anti-war crowd in the primaries – is Obama now marching in the opposite direction to pick up the next batch of votes?

Not long ago, I was seeing signs Obama wasn’t just another politician. Now I’ve got that old sinking feeling, I’ve been fooled again.

Let’s face it. It’s beginning to look like we Republicans have nominated a nice politician who can’t read a teleprompter and you Democrats have nominated a real smart politician who doesn’t need one.
