For a month Obama’s been talking about North Carolina being in play. The rumor mills – at least over here on the Republican side of the aisle – are churning, saying everything from, ‘He’s crazy if he thinks he can win North Carolina’ to ‘He’s sent a legion of workers here to register 500,000 new African American voters.’ The Republican response has been from outright denial to a whispered, ‘Do you really need to be worried?’

Well, if Republicans had any doubts, John McCain just answered them. He’s going to run ads here too. Which says one thing loud and clear: McCain’s polls are showing the same thing as Obama’s.

North Carolina is officially in play.
