Presidents and Secretaries of Defense have a history of lying to us about wars.

Lyndon Johnson and Robert McNamara lied about Vietnam.

George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

Now we’re expected to believe two of the biggest liars in history – Donald Trump and his cartoonish “Secretary of War,” Pete Hegseth – that the war in Iran will end soon, the Strait of Hormuz will be safe again, democracy will supplant the ayatollahs, gas prices will drop back down and a new era of peace will break out in the Middle East.

Pardon my cynicism.

What’s believable and truly impressive is the prowess of America’s military.

What’s truly disgusting is how Cadet Bone Spurs Trump and TV He-Man Hegseth preen, posture and appropriate that prowess for their own glory.

They brag that Iran’s nuclear capacity has been “obliterated”.

For the second time, apparently.

After last June’s air strikes, the White House announced, “Iran’s Nuclear Facilities Have Been Obliterated.”

The Trump Administration has put out a series of Internet videos that mix Iran footage with clips from films like “Iron Man,” “Gladiator” and “Top Gun.”

The videos are no doubt a big hit with MAGA incels who spend hours playing “Call of Duty” in their basements.

They should volunteer for the real thing.

If they die serving their country and come home in a flag-draped coffin, Trump will be there to salute them.
