Unbranding the Wall
Trump’s trapped. After three years of rallies, tweets and boasts ‘The Wall’ now wears Trump’s brand like a Trump Tower Hotel. Trump and the Wall are one. If you like Trump, you like The Wall; if you dislike Trump, you dislike The Wall. Whether you’re for or against The Wall doesn’t have much to do with the virtues or vices of The Wall – where you stand is determined by whether you like or dislike Trump.
But, at the same time, there’re a lot of people who dislike Trump but want more border security. And to get out of the trap Trump needs those people to say, Okay. I don’t like Trump. But I do like The Wall. The Wall has merits of its own.
Unbranding The Wall will be against Trump’s nature. He’d have to step back from the limelight. But it might get him out of the trap.
