Two Fisted TAPster

Here’s a TAPster who earns two beers by sending me two rants.

First, on the debt-ceiling deal.

“I respectfully disagree with one of your recent posts regarding the Republicans winning the budget and deficit funding battle. If they won, see what they have given us. Their precious philosophy, commitments to no taxes and obstructionism have created what many have feared in the business community; unadulterated panic and uncertainly. We heard over the weekend that all of this is because Obama provided no leadership but that requires those who are willing to be led.

“I recall the day after 9-11, Congressmen and Representatives from both parties stood in front of the Capitol and sang God Bless America. It was led by a Democratic majority. This and the earlier problems in 2008-2009 are nearly as dramatic yet where are the conservatives singing with the Dems. They wish to preserve their own philosophy above all else even if they are wrong and nobody is always right. I think that is where they lose the communications battle.”

And then on Pat McCrory and the Voter ID bill:

“I have never understood the conservative position on this except it must be racial. They are all for the  ‘Don’t tread on me’ philosophy which should mean we exist as the wild west with every man for himself, carrying guns in the legislative building and on college campuses and allowing only those who can afford health care to receive treatment. Certainly we could not have a requirement for personal papers to be carried at all times like in Nazi Germany and Communist Soviet Union. Now, my grandmother would not have been allowed to vote or to enter a Federal or State building or to fly since she never had a driver’s license. So, not having any identification is not very practical in this day and time.  The constitution gave qualified citizens the Right to vote but there has never been a requirement to carry identification papers. I wonder how they reconcile that.”
