Thom Tillis threw another temper tantrum at the media.
This is astoundingly bad judgment. Tillis got great media coverage through most of last year – the session and his listening tour. Things went sour after the midnight override of the NCAE dues bill. So Tillis rushes out and sets fire to all his good relations with the media.
A wise old reporter once told me – and it’s true: “I’ve known a lot of public officials who were good with the media but bad at their jobs. I’ve never known one who was good at his job but bad with the media.”
Memo to the Speaker: Chill. It’s fine to take issue with a reporter or reporters over yesterday’s story. But remember: There’s going to be another story…and another…and another.
