In 1968, Richard Nixon’s campaign told South Vietnam to reject a peace deal before the election. Nixon thought peace might help Hubert Humphrey.
In 1980, we now learn from The New York Times (link below), John Connally sent word to Iran not to free the hostages before the election. The Reagan campaign thought their release might help Jimmy Carter.
In 2000, a Republican-majority Supreme Court stopped the vote count in Florida. A full count might have flipped the state and the election to Al Gore over George W. Bush.
In 2020, Donald Trump lied and said he won. When every state, every court, his own campaign and his own Justice Department told him he lost, he incited a murderous mob to try to overturn the election.
Republicans are right: America has a problem with election fraud.
