Media Blitz

Bill Faison got a rude welcome to statewide politics. The N&O story about his ex-wife’s divorce allegations – published the day Faison filed – was like blitzing a rookie quarterback on his first play of the season.

The divorce apparently dogged Faison’s race against David Parker for state party chair – and cost him votes then.

Now we’ll see whether Democratic primary voters in North Carolina are more forgiving than Republican primary voters in South Carolina. The family-values party there brushed off Newt Gingrich’s messy marital history, including his second wife’s claim that he asked for an open marriage. Gingrich denied it, and the voters apparently bought it. Not to compare Faison to Gingrich (I wouldn’t do that to anyone), but he denies the allegations against him.

According to Twitter, Faison also faced tough questioning from John Frank at the N&O about why he’s at 4 percent in the polls. And that was before the N&O story ran.
