Richard Moore – in his official role as state Treasurer – gave a company owned by a couple of his contributors the inside track to sell dental and vision insurance to state retirees. (He also gave his contributors company, free, a list of state retirees – but wouldn’t give the same list to their competitors).
Beverly Perdue puts all that in a TV ad.
And, in response, Moore’s contributors threaten to sue her. If she doesn’t pull the ad. Forthwith.
Now, Richard Moore’s got ads on TV blasting Beverly Perdue for being investigated by the SBI, taking illegal campaign donations and cutting spending on education (which, politically, is roughly the equivalent of being called a child molester in a Democratic Primary). He’s called her just about everything from a polecat to a bumbler and, now, his contributors are threatening to sue her for a negative ad.
