An Obstacle Standing in the Way

Saturday morning the New York Times ran a front page article about the attack in California and, right next to it, for the first time in 90 years, it ran a front page editorial – calling for more gun control.

Think about that: In California terrorists killed Americans and, in New York, the Times wants to take away Americans’ guns.

It’s perplexing

But, maybe, not for long.

In politics folks regularly argue and swap insults and argue some more and a conservative might think of a liberal, That guy’s a jerk, but it’s a free country and everyone gets their say and more often than not life rolls along.

But, at times, when a problem turns deadly a different chord steals into debates and, then, a conservative listening to the New York Times is liable to think less than kindly, We’ve got to whip ISIS. But, to do it, we’ve got to whip those newspaper editors first.

After that there’s no quarter asked or given.

The day after the attack in California Attorney General Loretta Lynch gave a talk and explained that her greatest fear right now is anti-Muslim speech. Before California, that might have passed for high-sounding thinking but, after California, it sounds like one more obstacle standing in the way of whipping ISIS.
