An Odd Tale

Hard face, narrow eyes, Tom Homan looks tough. The day Trump took office he gave Homan a nickname: The ‘Border Czar,’ put him in charge of ICE. A cloud floated over the horizon.

Down the street from the White House, in the Justice Department, Trump Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove found out the FBI was investigating Homan for taking a bribe. Bove stopped the investigation.

But a Justice Department report landed in the press about undercover FBI agents, disguised as businessmen, taping Homan taking a bag with $50,000 cash inside – to help them get government contracts.

In the White House a reporter asked Karoline Leavitt – Trump’s press spokesman – if the report was true? Leavitt said absolutely not, Homan never took the $50,000.

But when Homan was asked about the $50,000 he side-stepped. He toldFox News, ‘I did nothing wrong. I did nothing illegal’ – butdidn’t deny taking the money.

Attorney General Pam Bondi evaded the same question.

It’s an odd tale: It’s hard to tell who’s telling the truth.

So, what’s next?

If the FBI taped Homan taking $50,000 in cash – it ought to release the tape.

Beyond that, $50,000 can’t just disappear into thin air. Where’s the money now? Who’s got it? The FBI? Or Tom Homan?
