Trump to Vets: Drop Dead

Trump uses troops as political props, orders them to parade before him on his birthday and deploys them to “quell” protests against him.

Meanwhile, he’s gutting healthcare for veterans.

He treats veterans like – his words – “losers” and “suckers.”

The Guardian reports that the Veterans Administration, which provides healthcare to more than 9 million veterans, has been “plunged into crisis. Across the nation, appointments have been cancelled, hospital units closed, the physical safety of patients put at risk.”

Trump’s budget slashes spending for medical services by $12 billion, nearly 20%, and eliminates 80,000 VA jobs.

On the chopping block: life-saving cancer trials, suicide prevention research and treatments for opioid addiction.

An acute care unit in rural Illinois was closed to new patients.

In Orlando, there’s a backlog of 2,298 unread radiology exams.

A dozen rheumatology appointments were cancelled in Montrose, New York.

Veterans across the country complained about delayed appointments and long wait times.

At his parade, Trump should tell troops and veterans the truth: “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for me.”
