Tillis’ Choice
Senator Thom Tillis is a good politician.
He may be good enough to preserve his image as a Serious Senator who works across the aisle AND avoid being primaried next year by Trump.
He may avoid losing to Roy Cooper next November.
But what a miserable, degrading path he must tread every day.
He knows that Trump’s appointees are greedy grifters and unqualified, unserious, unfit buffoons (photo with RFK Jr.)
He knows that Musk and his Musketeers can do real harm to people Tillis represents.
He knows that Trump has turned Senate Republicans into bowing, scraping political eunuchs who have meekly surrendered the constitutional duties, authorities and responsibilities they worked so hard to win.
Tillis faces a choice.
His legacy could be: “He was a man of courage and conviction who put country ahead of party and personal ambition.”
Or it will be: “He knew it was wrong. But he went along.”
