Two Good Things

Two things lately make me feel good about this election: Josh Stein’s devastating ad about Mark Robinson on abortion and Jeff Jackson’s assessment of Trump’s felony conviction.

Stein’s ad skewers Robinson with his own words; he can’t duck, dodge or deny them.

Even worse is Robinson’s demeanor: angry, hateful and hostile to women.

The ad’s tagline is “Mark Robinson must never be governor.” If Stein keeps this up, Mark Robinson will never be governor.

Here’s what Jackson, who was gerrymandered out of his congressional seat and is the Democratic nominee for attorney general, said about Trump (I’m paraphrasing what he reportedly said at a Raleigh event):

“Some people say it won’t matter that Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts. Don’t believe that.

“Most people spend maybe 4-5 minutes a week thinking about politics.

“But every single person in the United States over the age of 12 knows one thing today: Trump was convicted of a felony. And they know that a felony is bad.

“It does matter. Big time.”

A convicted felon. A man who demeans women and wants to control their decisions about pregnancy.

That’s not a winning ticket.
