The Witness Who Didn’t Show Up
Trump’s trial ended. And the media – CNN, Fox, MSNBC, Newsnation – is on fire.
Michael Cohen testified he and Trump met – after Trump won the election – and agreed on how to repay him back for hush money he paid Stormy Daniels.
Trump says that’s pure blarney. It never happened.
But would Cohen borrow $130,000 and pay Daniels out of his own picket – unless he knew Trump was going to repay him?
There was one other man in the room the day Trump met with Cohen: Allen Weisselberg. Trump’s CFO. He heard what was said. But prosecutors didn’t put Weisselberg on the witness stand. And neither did Trump’s own lawyers. Why did neither want him to tell the jury what he heard? It’s a twisted picture.
Weisselberg worked with Trump, lived in a Trump high-rise, appeared on ‘The Apprentice’ alongside Trump. He landed in jail on Rikers Island twice, first for tax evasion, again for perjury. The day before he went to jail the second time Trump handed him a $2 million severance deal – on the condition he couldn’t voluntarily cooperate with an investigation into Trump. The only time Weisselberg was asked about Trump’s deal with Cohen, in another case, he said he couldn’t remember.
Michael Cohen finagled, cut deals, paid hush money, landed in jail. Weisselberg didn’t pay taxes on ‘off-the-books’ money Trump paid him, landed in jail twice. Trump, himself, over the years has been sued for defrauding students at Trump University, for his business dealings, not paying venders, not paying workers, for fraud, sexual abuse, defamation – even one of his nieces sued him.
It’s a twisted picture. And that’s the world Donald Trump lives in.
