Biden’s New Democracy
Joe Biden is a great President, but not a great communicator.
He has a good story to tell. It goes like this:
For more than 40 years, since 1980, the Republican Party – and, sad to say, too many Democrats – have taken the American people down the wrong road.
They saddled us with trickledown economics and trade deals that made the super-rich and big corporations bigger and richer, but left the middle class behind, blue-collar workers out of work and too many Americans struggling to make ends meet.
Biden has spent the last three years wrenching Washington away from that disastrous course. It’s been hard and it’s been slow, because the opposition is fierce and dug in. But he’s turning the ship of state around.
He disproved the Big Lie that “government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem.”
Government is how Americans can protect against the predatory power of billionaires and giant corporations that led to the worst economic inequality and insecurity since the 1930s.
Biden’s doing big things, like investing in American schools, factories, laboratories, bridges, roads, clean water, clean energy and Internet connectivity – instead of more welfare for the wealthy and well-connected.
He’s doing little things that matter, like making airlines give passengers cash refunds when they get bumped or a flight gets cancelled.
And Biden is protecting us against Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans who want to take away our democracy and our rights – voting rights, civil rights, women’s rights, the right to decent healthcare and every American’s rights to fairness and equal opportunity.
Franklin D. Roosevelt gave Americans a New Deal.
President Biden is giving us a New Democracy.
Tell it, Joe.
