Axis Sally

Axis Sally a Broadway showgirl with a sultry voice starred on Nazi radio during World War II, purring to lonely GI’s (who hadn’t seen their wives in years): ‘Remember the guy with the flashy convertible who had eyes for your wife…last week he moved in with her.’

That was propaganda back in the 1940’s – times have changed.

Nora, who has eight thousand social media followers, said in a post: ‘As working class Americans struggle to afford food and gas, Joe Biden wants to send $13.7 billion more in aid to Ukraine’ – she added a picture of Joe Biden showering Zelensky with money. Except it turns out Nora isn’t a woman – Nora’s a Russian hacker out to stop more aid going to Ukraine.

In a German town, as immigrants poured in from Ukraine, an empty building burned down. Russian hackers took to the internet telling Germans, ‘That fire was set by immigrants.’

GI’s laughed at Axis Sally – they knew she was a Nazi. But propaganda’s gotten sneakier: Today it pops up on your computer looking like a post from a woman in your neighborhood.
