Daylight Dog Time

Regardless of their owners’ politics, dogs overwhelmingly agree that the time change is a bad thing.

Our dog Ringo is strongly opposed. Every year we go through this. Yesterday afternoon it started at 4 o’clock.

Ringo (lip quivering and tail wagging): “Time to eat!”

Me: “Not yet. You have to wait an hour.”

Ringo: “What? My tummy says it’s time. The sun says it’s time.”

Me: “But we set the clocks back an hour last night.”

Ringo: “What?”

Me: “We went off Daylight Time and back on Standard Time.”

Ringo: “What?”

Me: “It has something to do with saving energy, or when kids go to school, or having more time outside in the summer, or something. I actually don’t know.”

Ringo: “What’s wrong with you people?”

Me: “I can’t help it. You just have to wait an hour.”

Ringo: “Okay, Mr. Turn Back Time. You wait and see what time I get you up in the morning.”
