One is a man of profound moral courage. The other is an arrested adolescent of profound moral cowardice.

One is a patriot. The other, a traitor.

One proudly unfurled his country’s flag. The other dishonors his country’s flag.

One stands for democracy, freedom and the rule of law. The other, for one-man authoritarianism.

One stood before Congress to save his country. The other incited a violent mob to attack Congress and overturn an election, sat passively watching TV as the attack unfolded and now stands accused of treason to his country.

Trump panders to Putin. Zelensky defies him.

Trump blackmailed Zelensky. He withheld military aid to extract a political favor.

Trump wears nice suits and lives in luxury. Zelensky wears fatigues and lives in the cold and dark.

A few critics carped about Zelensky wearing fatigues in Washington. Maybe that was stagecraft. Or maybe it’s hard to get a suit cleaned and pressed in Kyiv these days.

Zelensky and Trump will be permanently linked in history.

History will judge them – and those in Congress who sat scrolling their phones while a man of courage stood up.
