The You and I Tube Campaign
At a Wake County Democrats’ panel this morning, we were asked whether the Internet will make TV irrelevant in politics. My answer: look at Hillary Clinton’s new video about her campaign song.
It led the morning news. It dominated CNN. CBS’ Bob Schieffer called it “genius.”
The video gave Hillary millions of dollars worth of TV play. For just the cost of producing the video and posting it on her website.
So no, TV is not dead.
The real story is the new synergy behind Old Tube and You Tube.
Brad Crone, the panel moderator, asked whether Internet politics would disrupt campaigns’ control of their message.
The answer is yes. And that’s a good thing.
But the change also rewards campaigns that master the new opportunities, as Hillary’s did.
