The Smell Test
The headline surprised me: Trump donated to Kamala Harris campaign when she was California Attorney General.
Trump gave Harris $6000, his daughter Ivanka gave another $2000.
Trump’s campaign spokesman brushed it off saying Trump was a ‘global businessman who gave politicians money to play the game and win.’
Trump’s given the same answer himself before. But that leaves him facing a harder question: At one of his rallies Trump said Harris is ‘evil, unhinged and sick.’ Is putting aside right and wrong – by giving money to a politician you think is evil – so you can play the game and get favors okay?
I guess Trump would shrug and say, It’s practical.
But it’s hard to see how that passes the smell test.
