North Carolina’s Democratic politicos and media types are in a frenzy over the presidential primary. As Rob Christensen wrote Sunday, the circus is coming to town!

So here’s what we’re working on, as they say on TV.

Will North Carolina pick the nominee? Has our time come? Or will our moment be stolen from us? Could Obama or Clinton wrap it up in March or April? Or could it go to a smoke-free room at the Denver national convention?

Will turnout on May 3 blow the doors and windows out? Every state and local candidate now has to recalculate their plans.

Will those candidates be able to buy any TV ad time? Jay Dunn from the Clinton campaign warned N.C. candidates to place their buys now.

Does this help Beverly Perdue or Richard Moore? My guess is Perdue – by increasing turnout among women and African-Americans, where she’s strong, and by taking away oxygen Moore needs to start a brushfire against her. Or maybe Moore can make a big push among independent voters.

Will John Edwards endorse? And who? All of a sudden, his support looks more important than it did a week ago. His delegates loom larger. He probably should act now. It may not matter next month – or even next week. And, after running so hard against Washington business-as-usual, how could he endorse Clinton?

Will Hillary and Barack get a look at the house John built? Maybe Barack has time for some one-on-one on the basketball court.

Will Governor Easley endorse before the primary? Some people who know him say his “slip” – calling the nominee “she” – was no slip. Maybe he can become Secretary of Education and finally escape Jim Hunt’s shadow.

Who will North Carolina’s superdelegates support? And who are these people, anyway?
