Strolling onto stage, speaking to a Christian group, Trump stopped, grinned, blonde hair awhirl enjoying the applause, stepped to the podium, told a story, purred to the audience, “I love you. And I hope you love me.”

Two miles away DeSantis, speaking to another Christian group, strode to the microphone, voice clipped said: “When you stand for what’s right in this day and age that is not going to be cost free. You are going to face attacks, you’re going to face smears, and its faith in God that gives you the strength to stand firm…what you need to do is put on the full armor of God.”

He sounded like a man who reads the Bible and talking about faith made his speech stronger than Trump’s; I watched videos of both speeches – and DeSantis’ strength vanished.

Rambling, Trump simply talked, patting himself on the back, strutting – but he sounded like a person.

Voice clipped, dry, DeSantis sounded like a robot.

And that’s the DeSantis Disconnect – sounding like a robot.
