America’s biggest problem is the economy. So, of course, national politics plunges into culture wars – or, more like, sex wars.
I guess it’s because Republicans in Congress and Rick Santorum just can’t resist the lure of legislating morality.
And maybe it’s because people know more about sex than about the economy.
So now Democrats accuse Republicans of a war on women and Republicans accuse Democrats of a war on religion.
Then Rush Limbaugh rushes in to throw gasoline on the fire. He attacks a Georgetown law student who had the temerity to express her opinion about contraception. Bully that he is, Limbaugh calls her a “slut” and “prostitute” on nationwide radio.
Thanks, Rush. This should convince the biggest and most important swing group in politics today – women and mothers – that there is a war on women.
Thanks, Rush
