Back in 1988, Floyd Brown’s Citizens United superpac ran an ad attacking Michael Dukakas for pardoning Willie Horton. The ad helped George H. W. Bush but Brown got a lot of heat for it.
Fast forward forty-seven years: After Trump took over The Kennedy Center, Brown agreed to go to work at the center raising money – then got a call: CNN asked if he still opposed gay marriage?
Brown said yes, posted on X his views were rooted in his personal Christian beliefs.
Two hours after he got the call from CNN, the Kennedy Center told Brown if he didn’t change his position on gay marriage he’d be fired. Brown posted on X, ‘I refused to recant and was shown the door.’
That all sounds odd. You wouldn’t expect anti-woke, anti-DEI, Republicans to tell a fellow to change his position on gay marriage. But it could be true. Why? It turns out Trump’s new president of the Kennedy Center once filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court supporting gay marriage.
