A video landed from a friend in my inbox – Reverend R.C. Sproul talking about ‘worshiptainment,’ – a blight sowed in churches by preachers turning services into concerts, stage shows. I wrote back, agreed, added I felt the same way about ‘politainment.’

Vivek Ramaswamy’s the new Republican politainer. We’ve also got entertainer Mark Robinson off and running for Governor. And, of course, no one can hold a candle to Donald Trump, who went on a tear last Thursday posting twenty-one videos of himself on Facebook.

In his first video Trump boasted his interview with Tucker Carlson was the most watched interview ‘ever in history,’ that he got twice as many viewers as Oprah when she interviewed Michael Jackson.

In other videos Trump called his opponents ‘evil, thugs, deranged, RINO’s, communists, fascists, lunatics,’ then said he was ‘brilliant.’ Over the last twenty years, he said, every president had tried but failed to defeat Isis – while he ‘defeated Isis in a matter of weeks.’ A Trumpster, commenting, added, ‘Isis was a CIA pys-op masterminded by John McCain.’

That’s politainment – it leaves you shaking your head, wondering, ‘Have we lost our minds?’
