On TV Ads, Pelion and Ossa

Carter made a great point in his blog about the McCrory TV ad. And he made a wonderful classical allusion that greatly elevated the intellectual level of this blog.
First, the allusion, “piling Pelion on Ossa.” It’s from Greek mythology. I had to look it up. Here’s the Wikipedia link.
As for the ad, Carter noted that McCrory sets himself up for a devastating counterpunch. The Governor says he’s cutting waste and fraud in Medicaid. The counterpunch: “Cutting waste and fraud? By hiring 24-year-old campaign aides at $85,000 and $87,500 a year? By hiring politically connected consultants at $25,000 a month?”
But, as Carter asked, will there be a counterpunch? If not, “it’s a pretty safe bet the Governor’s ad beats no ad hands down.”
True that. But will Renew North Carolina sustain the ad? Or let it drift away like fall leaves? It will take a significant and sustained media buy to repair the damage that DHHS has done to the Governor’s political standing.
