Obama Defines ‘Hostility’
June 23, 2011 - by
President Obama’s spending $10 million a day launching drone attacks on Tripoli and dropping bombs on Qaddafi’s compound, but the President’s just sent Congress a message saying we’re not involved in any ‘hostilities’ in Libya – which means he doesn’t have to worry about the War Powers Act and doesn’t need Congress’ approval to go on dropping bombs as long as he likes.
Even Obama’s own hand-picked lawyers at the Justice Department, according to the newspaper, didn’t buy that. They told Obama all that bombing sure sounded like war to them. But Obama – who according to the New York Times is a constitutional lawyer himself – told his own lawyers they were all wet. There’s no way, he said, dropping bombs on Libyans is an act of ‘hostility.’
