Mitt’s Three Blessings

Mitt Romney has three things going for him: math, money and stupid opponents.
Math has become Mitt’s main message: “I’m going to win because the delegate math is on my side.” He’s definitely a numbers guy.
He’s also a money guy. He doesn’t beat his opponents so much as he drowns them in money.
And there’s nothing better to have in politics than stupid opponents.
Why did Rick Santorum spend so much of last week in Puerto Rico when he should have been in Illinois? Especially when the more time he spent in Puerto Rico, they more he alienated Puerto Ricans. Of course, the more he talks, the more he alienates everybody.
Santorum and Newt Gingrich couldn’t even get onto the ballots in some states and congressional districts.
There are some basic things a campaign must do: Keep a schedule, file finance reports, get ads on the air and – oh yes – get on the ballot. If Romney’s opponents can’t do that, they can’t win. And they certainly can’t run the country.
If Romney survives the regionals and gets to the big dance, he will face a much higher-seeded team.
