Jekyll and Hyde

“I hate him” – Trump – “passionately.”

Put yourself in Donald Trump’s shoes: Did he feel betrayed when he read Tucker Carlson’s saying ‘I hate him’? He’d helped Carlson. Carlson had cheered him. Then Dominion sued Fox News and Carlson’s text message telling coworkers he hated Trump landed in a courtroom.

On election night three years ago Fox was the first TV network to call Arizona for Joe Biden. The call was right. But Trump ripped Fox. And Fox paid a price. Ratings dropped. Which meant fewer people watched Fox. Which meant less money coming in. And money mattered to Carlson, Fox News hosts, and Rupert Murdoch. Pivoting, going back to hugging Trump, Carlson had Mike Lindell on his show saying the election was stolen. But a few days later, on January 6th, Carlson – in private – texted his producer about Trump, saying: “He’s a demonic force, a destroyer.”

It turns out – like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde – there’re two Tucker Carlsons: One on the air praising Trump. And another, off the air, texting he hates Trump.

He hid the other Carlson. Until his text messages landed in a courtroom. And the chickens came home to roost.
