A TAPster raises a question about Governor Perdue and the state plane:
“Everyone was relieved to hear that catastrophe was averted last week when Governor Perdue’s state-owned aircraft had a mechanical problem and made an emergency landing at RDU.
“But, here are some questions:
“Why in the hell was she taking a jet airplane to High Point? How long does it take a jet to get there, maybe 5 minutes? How much jet fuel was burned? How much standby time for two pilots to wait while she does her job? How much time did she save when she had to drive to and from two airports anyway? How long does it take to drive to High Point from Raleigh? Did a trooper have to drive there from Raleigh to meet her, and could she have hitched a ride? How many teachers assistants could’ve been hired for the cost of this trip?
“And, how many other nonsensical trips are there like this when the landing gear works properly and nobody hears about the trip at all?”
