One voice roared the man who killed fourteen people in New Orleans was angry because he was broke; nodding, another pointed out he’d also lost his job. The man in Las Vegas, another said, blew up a bomb in front of a hotel because he suffered from PTSD. Psychologists, sociologists, professors, wizards in newspapers pointing fingers laid the blame on ‘internet extremism,’ ‘Radical Islam,’ ‘polarization.’

All logical. Reasonable. But did logic cut to the heart of why a man murdered fourteen people – or is the answer simpler? A lost soul in a ditch, frightened, angry, hears a voice whisper, You want revenge?

A devil drops a match on powder keg. All hell breaks loose.

And turning a blind eye to our sinful nature, weakness, vulnerability to the power of devil’s whispers, other lost souls point to extremism, divorce, debt, and  tell us, That’s why.
