Cheering the Lesser Sin
Leaning back smiling, a devout Christian, Chris praised Trump for stopping wokeness – I asked how he saw Trump’s religion.
He paused, said thoughtfully, Getting wounded probably deepened Trump’s faith but he grew up in New York as a real estate tycoon. He’s got religion. But he’s got a ways to go. He laughed, then said with absolute conviction: But he’s still a lot better than Biden.
I pointed out choosing between two villains – say between a Nero and a Caligula – probably didn’t end well.
He laughed shaking his head. Well, God used Nebuchadnezzar to save Israel.
I’d heard that before: Trump’s not perfect but God’s using him as a tool to save us. But God sent Nebuchadnezzar to Israel as a punishment – not a reward.
And choosing Trump, because he’s the lesser of two evils, then cheering Trump, brings a problem of its own. It’s like cheering for one evil because another’s worse. But when we do that, at the end of the day, does it restore goodness?
