Cal’s Air War

Cal Cunningham officially becomes the front-runner in the Democratic Senate primary by getting on TV first.
But does a “war” message work in a Democratic primary?
Opponents argue that his service record won’t impress anti-war Democrats – that it will make him look too conservative.
I think it’s a strong ad. And it addresses an underlying concern in Cunningham’s campaign: the fear that he’ll look like another John Edwards – that is, a young, good-looking fresh face.
No, the ad says: “I wanted to serve” – not sue. And was in the state Senate. And volunteered after 9/11.
In a low-visibility race, being first on the air is huge. Will Marshall or Lewis have to go negative?
