Broken Egg Promise
Waffle House shows Trump lied – and broke his biggest promise.
He promised, “when I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on day one.”
This week, Waffle House put a 50-cent surcharge on every egg it serves.
It’s the Trump Egg Tax.
All over the country, egg prices are going up in grocery stores, if you can find eggs.
But now Trump says, “you know, it’s hard.”
Remember when J.D. Vance did a media stunt at a grocery store case and attacked Biden-Harris for high egg prices?
Where’s that Eggsecutive Order?
(Sorry. I couldn’t resist.)
Senator Elizabeth Warren got the Democratic response eggsactly right.
(I’ll stop. No more yolking around.)
Warren and 20 congressional Democrats sent Trump a letter demanding he act on egg prices and telling him how to do it.
They wrote, “You have tools you can use to lower grocery costs and crack down on corporate profiteering, and we write to ask if you will commit to using those tools to make good on your promises to the American people.”
That’s how Democrats should fight back.
Don’t chase every idiotic idea that pops into Trump’s brain and out of his mouth: building Mar-a-Gaza, buying Greenland, annexing Canada, renaming the Gulf of Mexico, bringing back President McKinley or whatever today’s nonsense is.
Democrats are at their best when they follow their aggressive populist instincts and do battle with the Trump-Musk-Bezos-Zuckerberg crowd of greedy, arrogant billionaires who can’t wait to take away health care, education, medicine, Medicare and Social Security from honest, hard-working Americans.
That’s how we win the battle for public opinion.
That’s how we win in 2026 and 2028.
That’s how we win at Waffle House.
And if we win at Waffle House, we win the White House.
