Blow-up

Trump thought he’d win political points by inciting protests and violence in Minnesota.

But the brutality and overreaction of ICE stormtroopers is backfiring on him.

Resistance is rising – among the American people and even among Republican politicians.

North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis called for “a thorough and impartial investigation” into the shooting Saturday of an ICU nurse.

Senator Rand Paul, chair of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, summoned ICE and Border Patrol chiefs to appear before his committee on February 12.

A Republican candidate for governor in Minnesota, Chris Madel, dropped out of the race, saying he “cannot support the national Republicans’ stated retribution on the citizens of our state.”

Trump knows his standing is melting away.

He demoted Greg Bovino, the under-sized ICE “commander at large” who overcompensated by dressing up like a German Nazi officer (photo).

He met for two hours last night with Kristi Noem, “the face of the administration’s immigration crackdown.”

Trump’s instinct at times like this is to distract us with another attack – like Venezuela, Greenland or Iran.

The one thing he isn’t attacking is the high cost of living – what people elected him to do.

There will be a reckoning for him and the Republican Party, in the mid-term elections – just nine months from now.
