The Obama campaign has to attack Sarah Palin. She has turned the race around for McCain. Democrats must turn her into a negative for him.

They may be reluctant to attack a woman. But the DSCC got over that with Liddy Dole.

One poll shows that white women went from being slightly for Obama before the Republican convention to favoring McCain by 12 points.

It’s time to sic the attack dogs on the pit bull.

Where to start? Troopergate? Expense-gate? Book banning? Making rape victims pay for DNA tests? Being for pork barrel and the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it?

Answer: All of the above.

Some women also question how she can be Vice President and raise five children, one with Down Syndrome. Rest assured Republicans would attack her for that if she were a Democrat. They would say: If Palin had stayed home and paid attention, her teenaged daughter might not be pregnant.

Also, let’s get her position on abortion in focus: Not even in cases of rape or incest.

Conventional wisdom says running mates don’t make a difference. Conventional wisdom is wrong here, because she is no conventional running mate.

Her ship is carrying McCain. Sink her, and she takes him down.

Obama already beat the woman we thought was the toughest, canniest politician in America. Now he needs to handle Palin.
