A Political Dance…

A young girl walking to a grocery store at night was raped at knife point; pregnant, back in the 1960s, she went to get an illegal abortion, stared at a blood-stained table, left – gave birth to her daughter, put her up for adoption.

Nineteen years later the daughter – Rebecca Kiessling – met her mother the first time. The daughter finished college, went on to law school, a boyfriend beat her, broke her jaw, stalked her. A friend took her to a Catholic Mass. She joined the church, married, had two daughters, adopted three more children – her two adopted sons died of fentanyl poisoning in 2020.

Last week, fifty-three years old, a lawyer testifying in a room full of Congressmen, she said that the police told her the fentanyl that killed her sons came from Mexico – that we need to secure the border.

Blonde, flamboyant, during Biden’s State of the Union speech Marjorie Taylor Greene had roared, Liar; she sat in the hearing listening to Rebecca Kiessling, after the hearing tweeted: ‘Listen to this mother, who lost two children to fentanyl poisoning tell the truth about both of her sons’ murders because of the Biden administration’s refusal to secure our border and stop cartels from murdering Americans every day by Chinese fentanyl.’

Her tweet raced across the internet, got three million views.  A political dance started.

Read one way Greene’s tweet meant Kiessling testified ‘because of’ the need to secure the border; read another way the same two words meant Kiessling’s sons died ‘because of’ Biden. Either way, when it comes to politics, Greene came out ahead: Voters in her Republican district are for securing the border – and dislike Biden.

A fight with Greene helped Biden too – Independent voters dislike her. Fumbling, giving a speech, Biden said Greene had tweeted he’d killed Rebecca Kiessling’s sons – added: ‘Well, the interesting thing is that fentanyl they took came during the last administration.’ Kiessling’s sons had died before Biden took office – the fentanyl that killed them had crossed the border under Trump. After poking Greene, Biden laughed.

Dancing turned to pounding.

The Republican National Committee struck tweeting: ‘Yesterday a mom who lost her two sons to fentanyl poisoning told her story. Today Biden laughed at it.’ An RNC official called Biden ‘disgusting.’ An Indiana Congressman tweeted Biden was ‘shameful.’ Another Congressman tweeted Biden was ‘vile.’ Fox News ran a story, ‘Biden slammed for laughing while discussing mom who lost two children to fentanyl: ‘Shameful.’’

But Biden had mocked Marjorie Taylor Greene – not Kiessling.

The music changed, another dance started.

A video shot across the internet showing Volodymyr Zelensky saying: ‘The US will have to send their sons and daughters to war and they will have to fight.’

Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted, ‘Zelensky wants our sons and daughters to die defending Ukraine.’ Looking like a Hollywood star, Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna made her own video, played it on Twitter: ‘Zelensky says the US will have to send our sons and daughters to die for his war.’ Luna and Greene are against more aid to Ukraine.

It turned out the Zelensky video was fake. It wasn’t true. It was propaganda. Who put it out? Putin?

That was Washington politics last week.
