To destroy German factories during World War II we bombed Hamburg, Berlin, other cities – bombs killed civilians but bombing tank factories meant fewer American soldiers died.

Israel didn’t want a war with Hamas but got one – and it now faces the same choice we did: It bombs Gaza, civilians die, but bombs destroying Hamas’ guns, missiles, tunnels mean fewer Israeli soldiers die.

Protestors erupted, howling, denouncing Israel – President Biden called on Israel to ‘pause.’ But what would we have said if someone had told us: Stop bombing Berlin – we’d have answered, That means more American soldiers will die.

There’s another way to stop bombs killing civilians in Gaza that howlers never mention: The day Germany surrendered bombs stopped falling. For a Hamas leader holding hostages surrender is risky. But the day Hamas stops fighting civilians stop dying.
