In his farewell address, President Biden warned that “an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead.”

The oligarchy isn’t just “taking shape.” It’s taking power Monday.

President Trump’s inauguration will bring us government of the billionaires, by the billionaires and for the billionaires.

This is a challenge – and an opportunity – for Democrats.

We should challenge the oligarchy and champion the people who work hard and play by the rules.

If billionaires and big corporations paid their fair share of taxes, we could have good schools, good health care, a secure retirement, safe communities and strong action against climate change.

It soon will be clear whose side Trump and the Republicans are on.

Democrats, let’s make clear whose side we’re on.
