Bowater, as his friends call him, is a local Democrat – and an incurable optimist. While Republican preen and strut with power and Democrats wring their hands with worry, Bowater remain serenely sanguine.

One friend finally reached his limit – with the Republicans and with Bowater’s rosy view. He demanded, “What makes you so happy? Don’t you read the news?”

“Yep,” said Bowater, “every day. Just yesterday, I read on the front page that Republicans are looking to put a sales tax on 130 services. Then I read that Phil Berger’s education plan is to pay teachers less and bash them more. Today I read that Governor McCrory is going to lay off teachers’ assistants, cut the universities and community colleges and raise tuition.

“Then I looked inside the paper and saw that one Republican wants to keep the Utilities Commission Public Staff from being for anything that he’s not for.”

By now Bowater’s friend was beside himself: “That’s my point! Look at what they’re doing! How can you be happy about that?”

Bowater calmly replied, “Because every day the Republicans move one day closer to total rejection by the voters. Keep up the good work, I say.”

Legislators have been kept in the dark until the deal is finished. Legislators will get extraordinary pressure from Corporate Lobbyists to accept the deal.. Do I hear a Great Flushing Sound of Jobs leaving America?

BUDGET NEEDED
Congressional Progressive Caucus Budget in the House.
$2.1T in public investment and job growth with $700 Billion in first twelve months
Create an estimated 6.9 million jobs, cut wasteful military spending, reduce Medicare costs by ending corporate giveaways, increase tax levels for high and ultra high incomes and tax Wall Street for it's risk taking behavior.
We need jobs. In America. Real unemployment now stands at 14.3%. The number of jobs to bring us back to pre-recession employment is 8.9 million. Jobs. Jobs. Jobs.

Who wants a job, we got welfare. We can borrow our way to prosperity. John Maynard Keyans knows better. We don't really need jobs. When we borrow a trillion or two that money goes into the economy and creates economic activity. Those idiots in the Republican Party don't get it. We will soon have health care. We can get money for food and government housing. We can get free cell phones, it's just a bunch of capitalist idiots who want us to work. We don't need work we need economic activity and QE 3, QE 4, QE 5 and QE 6 will give us the added economic activity we need. When our people get welfare, and go to stores to purchase goods that creates economic activity. It's simple economics. This deal about having to have a job is old thinking. The rich have enough money to last us almost forever. You really gotta be a sucker to work.
