"Third, Romney is held captive by a far-right faction that seized control of the Republican Party".
There are a great many people that want the Republican Party to be "far right"...maybe even more than it is now. You have hit on something I think many within my own party won't admit. We republicans have "factions". And, those "factions" fight among themselves so much, it keeps us from being a true unified party. There are the fundamentalist Christians. There are the Teapartiers. There are the Ron Paul Libertarians. There are the independents/moderates.
Yep...you've hit on the one thing that keeps the republican party of today from being a solidified, unified unit. And, in the end, that may very well be our undoing. Even here in North Carolina, we have a tough fight between two elements. It's not likely that will be corrected any time soon. Too many republicans from the "old regime" to allow the new generation to take over. Read the Forum. Many posts there explain that very well.
