Not too long ago, Morrisville gave Chinese computer giant Lenovo a million dollar tax subsidy to get it to move its plant there from the Research Triangle Park. The theory was the jobs were worth the million dollars.

Guess what? The News and Observer reported (March 17), “Lenovo, the Chinese company that bought IBM’s PC business last year, plans to slash 1,000 jobs…the company’s site in the Research Triangle Park will lay off 300 – 350 people.”

Is Morrisville going to take back the incentive now?

“Follow the Money!” Yes, this works in so many ways, especially in Wake County.

That same N&O story also said something about moving corporate offices to Morrisville as the same time. I don’t remember the exact number, but I think the additional jobs from that move might have been wash with the jobs that got axed.

Why talk about part of the story?
