Here’s a fundamental difference between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats want to make it easier for people to vote. Republicans, harder.

In Florida, Republicans are desperately trying to purge voters before November. In North Carolina, the Republican legislature doesn’t want to help counties improve and maintain voting systems.

A party that doesn’t trust the voters must be afraid of something.

No, Democrats want to make it easier for illegal aliens, convicted felons, and the dead to vote. Republicans want to make it harder. That's why you saw left-wing groups like ACORN trying to sneek thousands of illegal registrations into the system.

I agree that a party that doesn't trust the voters must be afraid of something. So what were the Democrats afraid of when they changed the state constitution a few years back to allow government borrowing without a vote of the people? And what are they afraid of now when they oppose laws requiring voter approval of municipal annexations? And what are they afraid of when they rail against proposals to require voter approval of tax increases?

It has nothing at all to do with trusting the voters. It is all about trusting the voter LISTS, and Democrat operations like ACORN are what create that mistrust. It is about stopping voter fraud. Most countries in the world, even Third World countries with more poor people than the US, require valid ID's to vote. The Democrats here scream that requiring a picture ID to vote would suppress voting. Yes, there is one large Democrat voting group that this would suppress most of - the deceased. In Obama's hometown of Chicago, the Democrat mantra on election day is ''Vote Early and Often'' and that is the very thing Republicans are trying to put a stop to. Republicans are the party of honest voter lists while Democrats are the party promoting vote fraud.
