Everybody knows that famous slogan James Carville posted in the 1992 Clinton campaign’s war room – a war room that was the brainchild of Hillary Clinton.

Not so many know another slogan he posted: “Change Versus More of the Same.”

That’s Hillary’s problem this year.

Not matter how many slogans she throws up or how much squirming she does, Hillary is More of the Same.  Edwards and Obama are Change.

So my New Year’s prediction is that Hillary’s presidential procession gets seriously derailed in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Then the campaign will turn white-hot.  She has the money, the material and, above all, the all-consuming hunger to win that will lead her to turn a flamethrower on either or both of her challengers.

January 1992 was the month of Bill Clinton’s draft-dodging and womanizing scandals, fueled by the tabloids.  Sixteen years later, the Internet has taken politics into hyper-drive.

By the time Super-Duper Tuesday is over in early February, some reputations are going to be in tatters.  The question is who will survive what could become the most brutal month in the history of politics.
