In some of the Council of State runoffs, the conservative choices are crystal clear:

Insurance Commissioner - Mike Causey

Supt. of Public Instruction - Tedesco

The one I am uncertain about is Lt. Governor.  The best candidate narrowly failed to make the runoff, and I am uncertain about the other two.  Forest had a string of VERY establishment endorsements early, which really turned me off, but he seems to be getting on these days with some in the Tea Party. Which is the better choice in this runoff?  Because of those early endorsements and who his Forest's mother is, I have been leaning toward Gurly.  Is either one in bed with any of the scumbag RINO consultants?

I have the same reservations you have about Forest, Reaganite. Unfortunately, Gurley was recently endorsed by Skip Stam, one of the worst RINOs in Raleigh. Quite frankly, I don't know that we have any good options for Lt. Governor.

That is a difficult race to decide what to do in. I am not thrilled about either primary candidate of their associations in the party. The Democrat nominee, on the other hand, would be an absolutely awful person to have in public office.

Stam is no prize, but I don't know that I would call him one of the worst RINO's in Raleigh. What he really is amounts to a one issue right-to-lifer who knows and cares about a few other social issues but is essentially clueless and therefore uhpredictable on anything else. Who Forest's mother is creates a far bigger concern in me. In the scehme of things in Raleigh, Sram is not as big an evil as say Tillis or Brubaker. Of course, the whole lot of them likely conspired to screw Glen Bradley in redistricting.

We really need for conservatives in Raleigh to have a leader emerge for the race to be the next Speaker. Stam is unacceptable, and Brubaker is even more unacceptable. The sooner we see the back of Tillis the better.

Also, what about Secretary of State?  The choice is between two county commissioners, from Wake and Chowan.  It looks to me like the Chowan choice wears his conservatism on his sleave and the Wake choice does not so much.  Also, Wake will have enough of the Council of State ticket anyway. Chowan gives more geographical balance.
